Delight in the celebration of marriage!
A mom’s note to her daughter on the wedding day. “If I could give you just one thing in life, it would be the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then would you see how very special you are to me.”
Another mom’s note. I understand now, that a daughter is God’s way of saying, “Thought you could use a life-long friend”.
A wedding note from a best friend. Congratulations to my best friend. I will always be there for you if you need me. True friendship isn’t about being inseparable. It’s being separated, and nothing changes.
One dad’s wedding day memory: I remember the first time I saw my daughter in her wedding gown. Before I could catch my breath, it was time for the ceremony to begin. I walked into the suite to escort my little girl to the ceremony but could not see her. Her bridesmaids had formed a semicircle around her, obstructing my view. When they parted, I saw a beautiful young woman wearing a radiance and joy I had never seen before. Flooding my mind were pictures of the little girl I’d gently nudge in the morning to get moving, the one I drove to school on bad days, the girl that went to the prom, the one that graduated…where did the time go? I do not remember what I said to her at that moment. I know I told her she looked beautiful, but I was trying to hold it together for both of us so that she wouldn’t get teary and mess up her makeup — girls’ dads know that. So, I just stood there for a short time, holding her hand and taking it all in under her loving gaze.
I have had profound and meaningful experiences in my life, but none of them compared to this moment.
